Here, we will learn
how to make a new partition on the hard disk. It is possible only if you have
unallocated space on your hard disk or if there is enough space in one of your pre-partitions
of hard drives to create another partition i.e shrinkage of volume is possible. You can create a new partition for the data related to your family and can hide the new partition from the other users. So, let’s start with its
procedure.
How to make a new partition:-
1.) First of all, Right click on My computer and select the
option Manage.
2.) Select Disk Management option in the left hand side.
I don’t have unallocated space on my laptop. So, first I will
create unallocated free space. If you have unallocated free space,directly go to step 5.
3.) Right click on the drive in which there is enough space to
create another partition and select the option Shrink Volume.( In my case, I will
do right click on Y drive and will select shrink volume option.)
4.) It will show you the total size of the disk, the size upto
which you can shrink the volume and total size after shrinkage.In the option Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB, enter the size of the partition
which you want to create and click on Shrink (enter the size in MB).( I want to
create 20GB partition. So, I would enter 20480MB)
It will create unallocated free space.
5.) Right click on unallocated free space and select New volume. Select Next
6.) Again select Next.
7.) Now select the letter for your drive and again select Next. ( I select L letter for my new partition)
8.) Again select Next. It is recommended to format the new
volume.
9.) Now click on Finish.
It will create the
another partition like below.
